Cuckney village (the local village for the Greendale Oak) is situated
in North West Nottinghamshire, just a couple of miles east of the Derbyshire
border at Whalley Thorns and about 6 miles across the corner of Derbyshire to
the Yorkshire border. The
Cuckney Castle is an old motte and bailey castle only a short walk from the
Greendale Oak itself.
The Harley Gallery is a historical gallery which outlines the history of the Welbeck Estate. Home to the famous 5th duke of Portland nicknamed "The Mole" for his extensive tunnel system.
There are also several cities around the area, including Nottingham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Worksop and Bakewell
Thorsby market, a local flea market, is run weekly every Sunday and is a great way to get a taste for the local people.
